Winter and Group Bookings
The group bookings rate applies to groups of 10 or more people. The rate is $25 per person.
Keeping warm during winter
We charge $7.50 for firewood per day/night & $10 per electric heater per day/night to cover our direct costs and labour. A “user pays” approach is the fairest way to deal with these costs.
You are welcome to bring your own firewood if you would prefer to use that.
There are 4 fireboxes in total. One is in the Games Room, another in the Old Coach House kitchen and Ash House kitchen also has a firebox. The Mud Brick cabin also has a firebox requiring firewood.
There is a big outdoor BBQ available in a sheltered area outside the Old Coach House which also requires firewood fuel if you choose to use it.
(We supply a small portable gas bottle BBQ, but if you intend to do a lot of BBQ this way, it may be prudent to bring another 9kg gas bottle if this runs out).
The rooms that may require electric heating are:
The charge for electric heating applies whether you bring your own heater or use one of our electric heaters.
Cooking
There are 3 kitchens at the Staging Post, a gas BBQ & a large outdoor wood fire BBQ.
The Games Room, near the camping ground, is the best place for large group gatherings. The kitchen is separate with chest freezer, fridge, 2 stoves/ovens, bar area, large TV hooked to DVD with surround sound (no TV reception, though),several experienced couches, seats & a spare bed surrounding the firebox (with a view of the TV screen).
The Old Coach House has a fully equipped kitchen with all BBQ facilities nearby, and lends itself well to group “cook-ups”. Large groups of carnivores may want to bring another portable gas BBQ.
Ash House kitchen lends itself best to those in the group who want a quiet cuppa.
6+Toilets & 5 showers
There are 4 toilets and 2 hot showers in Ash House bathroom. These are for occupants of Ash House, Mud Brick cabins and Pise cabin.
There is also a toilet & shower in the Old Coach House. A second hot shower is accessed from outside the Old Coach House (usually used in summer).
There are more toilet facilities near the Old Coach House and Games Room.
The Games Room building includes the camp kitchen. Nearby are the camp ground facilities which include a toilet and shower in one big room & several toilets in a block next to that.
